Google Street View has been a part of Google Maps on Android for some time, but today Google is switching things up a little bit. With an update to version 2.0, Street View is becoming a standalone application on Android with some added functionality.
The new Street View app will let you tour immersive 360-degree imagery and contribute your own right to Google Maps. Now in just one gallery, you’ll be able to explore Street View collections and content from Google Maps alongside photo spheres that other folks have contributed from around the world.
Also with the new Street View app, you’ll be able to publish photo spheres of your favorite places to Google Maps instantly. The app will let you shoot photo spheres directly from your Android phone or iPhone, and even with spherical cameras such as the NCTech iris360.
The version 2.0 update is rolling out now in the Play Store. Once updated, Android users will see a standalone Street View application in their app drawers, and the new app will replace the Photo Sphere Camera app on iPhones. Head to the link below for the download!
