PayPal, the popular money transferring service, has just announced a new way for users to easily request and send money by using a simple customized URL. The new payment method is called PayPal.Me, and allows you to create a URL that’s personalized to your own username which can be shared with anyone as a way to request money.
Previously, requesting money from others through PayPal was quite a hassle. You’d need to navigate to PayPal.com, log in, select the “request money” section and enter in another user’s email address to create the request. Now with PayPal.Me, most of those steps have been eliminated. After you create a custom URL (e.g. mine is http://ift.tt/1O6q0RU), you can share the link with whomever you’d like through social media, over email, or through a text. Once the user opens the link and confirms the amount of money they’d like to send, that’s it.
You’ll need a PayPal account to sign up for PayPal.Me, but that’s about the only requirement. There’s no app to go along with PayPal.Me, though the website is optimized for mobile devices. For right now, the service is available in 18 countries, including the U.S., the U.K., Canada, Australia, France and more.
To get started, head to PayPal.Me to sign up.
